Stockman Tanglefoot En-suite Shepherd Hut

What a busy Winter we have had, enjoying building our bespoke huts for some lovely customers!

Back in October we delivered our Tanglefoot en-suite hut to the Three Spaniels in Cwrtnewydd, Carmarthenshire. We had a very wet and windy delivery but with a lot of team help we managed to get the hut safely on site. The hut is set in 26 acres of unspoilt land with wildlife aplenty.

The Tanglefoot is now available for holiday letting at this lovely, (dog-friendly site). Call 01570 434520 for bookings.

Before Christmas we built an off-grid Panteg Shepherd hut for the Brecon Beacons. This hut has a steel-framed chassis with large pneumatic tyres to enable it to reach remote spots.

On delivery we enjoyed a ride on the hut as it was pulled up the track to its new home! We had spectacular views of the Black Mountains and the sun shone all day.

The Panteg will be available for holiday letting later on in the year.

Shepherd Hut Bird House

We received a lovely e-mail from a customer in Kent who bought a Tanglefoot hut for her garden back in August. We gave her a re-cycled Shepherd hut bird box and she tells us that a family of tits now nest in it! She had been brushing her Persian cat and leaving balls of fur on the fence, which you can see popping out of the bird hut! Seems that even the birds love a bit of recycling and glamping!!

We are looking forward to seeing Stockman Shepherd Huts in Country Life Magazine in the May 15th summer gardens issue – make sure you check it out!

As ever we try and source as much as we can locally and are always looking for new innovative ideas to make our huts distinct and diverse. We hope you agree! We have recently discovered a business in Wales that offers permachar wood. The process originated in Japan in the 18th century, primarily as a way to treat cedar cladding to make it weatherproof. The Japanese call it “Yakisugi (焼杉)” or “Shou sugi ban” and it protects the wood against fire, wind, rain, rot and insects. It also substantially extends the natural lifespan of the wood.

The technique involves charring a wood surface to render it a deep charcoal-black. PermaChar® is quickly becoming the go-to option for architects and specifiers looking to create a dramatic, contemporary facade. We are looking into offering this cladding with our huts, as an alternative option to give our huts an additional protective edge when they are shipped to different climates.

Our display hut is on site for viewing, but don’t delay as it’s now on offer to make space for new orders and a show hut to take us around the country showcasing Stockman Shepherd Hut’s craftmanship.

We have just started an exciting new build for the prestigious Conrah Hotel in Aberystwyth. Look out for pictures on our website and social media for more information and updates.

Happy Spring to you all!
